Yesterday at the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 launch event in New Delhi Reliance Jio offered 100 GB extra internet for Mi Max2 buyers apart from offering 100 GB extra Jio’s President (Devices) Sunil Dutt made some interesting announcement about statics of data consumption by Jio in the country and in the world.
Before Jio’s existence, India consumed about 0.2 billion gigabytes of mobile data per month but after introduction of Jio last year, India has leveled up its data consumption to 1.2 billion gigabytes per month. In past 6 months Indian data consumption rate has seen a growth of 6 times. Reliance Jio also claimed that out of 1.2 billion gigabytes 1 billion is consumed by Jio consumer itself.
Dutt added that, Jio covers India’s 85 percent data consumption and other telecom giants Airtel, Idea,Vodafone,BSNL gets trimmed into rest 15 percent. Jio is the only exabyte (one Quintilian bytes) network in the world, This makes it the world’s largest mobile data network with 15 percent share in global Internet consumption and this pushes India on top of the chart for Global Internet Consumption leaving USA, Japan, Korea, China behind.
